  • Deby Sams began volunteering after Hurricane Ian and now runs a daily food pantry service from a semitruck on Connecticut Street to keep families fed. She works full-time & accepts canned goods donations on Mondays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the local Beach Baptist Church site.  ABC7
  • The Salvation Army in Lee County is operating homeless shelters to combat bitter cold weather as overnight lows in Fort Myers linger in the mid-40s. The shelter at 2400 Edison Ave offers limited beds (first-come, first-served) with capacity reassessed daily until Feb. 2.  The News-Press
  • Herb enthusiast Wendy Sprague will show locals how to raise herbs at Fort Myers Beach Library at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 2 — the Estero Island Garden Club program also explains health benefits and shares recipe tips.  Beach Talk Radio

  • A winter storm across the eastern U.S. caused disruptions at RSW—Fort Myers’ airport—with 49 flights canceled and 19 delayed Monday. Airlines issued waivers to help travelers rebook and advised passengers to monitor flight updates as operations continued.  The News-Press
