- ➤ The Bagel Factory on College Parkway has produced 25 million bagels in its three-decade run — founder’s daughter Lauren leads the family business which bakes 27 types daily and donates all leftovers to local organizations. The News-Press
- ➤ With colder weather here today, local nonprofits extended hours in Fort Myers as Community Cooperative now opens Sam's Community Café and Kitchen at 7:30 a.m. to serve hot coffee, breakfast, blankets and gloves to guests in need on Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. ABC7
- ➤ Lee County Domestic Animal Services is hosting its Olympic-themed pet adoption event this February with $30 fees for cats, kittens & adult dogs. - ➤ Dillon Rosenthal of BounceBack Pickle is recycling broken pickleballs to cut plastic waste by placing bright green bins at 35 Fort Myers sites and beyond. The company is testing its first recycled balls on local courts today & will test them this weekend in Tampa Bay. WGCU

- ➤ Due to this weekend's weather forecast, the Fort Myers Seafood & Music Festival has been postponed and will now take place April 10 to 12, 2026 at Centennial Park along the Caloosahatchee River. Organizers moved the start time to 3 p.m to keep attendees safe and comfortable. Fox 4
- ➤ The Fort Myers Mural Society installed two new murals over the Christmas holiday on the obelisks by the Luminary Hotel. The artworks pay tribute to Manuel A. Gonzalez and Harvie Heitman and are part of a walkable outdoor art & history museum featuring 57 murals along the Caloosahatchee River basin. WGCU
- ➤ The Fort Myers Seafood & Music Festival is postponed after poor weekend weather was predicted. Paragon Festivals said they will announce a new date for the event, which was set for Jan. 30 to Feb. 1 at Centennial Park. ABC7

- ➤ Local artist Jeff Ocasio transforms discarded trash into playful art and will teach tape-sculpting classes at DAAS CO-OP (10051 McGregor Boulevard). He will lead 'Beloved Bunnies' on Feb. 14 and 'Forest Mystics' on March 18 to share his creative process. Florida Weekly

- ➤ Cold weather has caused green iguanas to become torpid and fall from trees in North Fort Myers – the FWC advises residents not to warm them in homes or vehicles since the reptiles may quickly turn defensive. Beach Observer and Beach Bulletin
- ➤ A barred owl hit by a car in Fort Myers was rescued by the Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife on Jan. 28. The bird has central blindness but responds to visual stimuli (its eyes were undamaged), and treatment will continue to determine if it can be released. ABC7

- ➤ Lee Health uses 32 robotic systems to support 13 surgical specialties with over 100 trained physicians in robotic-assisted procedures. The hospital continues to expand its technology to improve patient care in a wide range of operations. Florida Weekly
