  • Today, FWC offices including the one in Fort Myers are open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. to accept cold-stunned iguanas dropped off after record lows on Feb.1 immobilized the reptiles & allowed the public to help remove the invasive species.  The News-Press
  • The FWC allowed the public to collect cold-stunned green iguanas without a permit after temperatures plunged Sunday in Southwest Florida. Residents who find frozen iguanas today should take them to the FWC office on Edwards Drive in downtown Fort Myers for humane processing.  The News-Press

  • Lee County’s dining scene boomed in 2025 with new spots including Sip & Sizzle at 2236 First Street and Swamp Cat Brewing at 1943 Fowler St, along with Sweet Melissa’s Restaurant reopening at 16230 Summerlin Road after Hurricane Ian.
