  • Community Cooperative partners with Cape Coral High School and the Lee County School District to launch a monthly mobile food pantry offering free groceries and support for those facing food insecurity. The first event runs today from 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Cape Coral High School — 2300 Santa Barbara Blvd.  Florida Weekly
  • Fort Myers' Harry Chapin Food Bank is reporting a 25% to 50% surge in demand as more residents who once donated now rely on its services to feed 300,000 people monthly across Lee County — the group is urging community support to help meet rising needs.  WINK News

  • Cold weather is affecting some fruit in Lee County as mangoes struggle in low temperatures while oranges perform well. Farmers (sales director Sean Pequigney) monitor supplies closely, and Sun Harvest Store expects a fresh delivery tomorrow.  WINK News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Lee County School District has lifted dress codes to help students stay safe in cold weather by allowing jeans and hooded jackets, and advises parents to stay in cars until buses arrive.   • A 16-year-old Girl Scout named Liana Wancik in Southwest Florida has kicked off cookie season with a new goal of selling 10,000 boxes, building on last year's record that included donating over 1,200 boxes to local groups.
