  • WINK News is hosting WINK Listens at Florida Southwestern State College at 8099 College Pkwy, Building U, Room 106 Monday, March 23 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This in-person event invites locals to share their stories + learn about open career opportunities at the recruitment table.  Fox 4
  • Last weekend, the Fort Myers Beach Lions Club Shrimp Festival doubled its shrimp sales with 800 pounds of pink gold shrimp sold in half-pound servings at $20 each, enhanced by a beer tent. ECONOMY NEWS

  • Diesel prices are climbing after a global supply shock tied to conflict in Iran, and Fort Myers companies that rely on trucking may face higher costs if fuel reaches $5 a gallon (local carriers are already adjusting rates).  NBC2

  • Voting is open today through 5 p.m. on March 12 for Lee County High School Student of the Week nominees. The nominees include Dylan Rivera, Max Evans + Isabella Diaz, all recognized for academic excellence and leadership at their schools.  The News-Press
  • The Fort Myers Power Squadron is offering a safe boating class at 3145 Royalston Ave starting Monday, March 16. The course includes two sessions running from 1 to 6 p.m. on Monday and Wednesday, March 18, costs $50 (or $60 for couples) and grants a Florida Boater’s ID card.  Florida Weekly

  • Today, Fort Myers residents face heat starting in the upper 60s that will climb to the upper 80s with only stray showers expected in the late afternoon as drought keeps rain chances low— a cold front will bring scattered showers starting Thursday.  NBC2

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A dormant rail corridor from Fort Myers to North Naples could see passenger service revived while plans convert part of the 11.4 mile line into a walking and biking path. County commissioners will review funding, including a $60 million land purchase with $11.6 million from Collier County, on March 10.  WINK News

  • Tennis legends Bob and Mike Bryan return to Fort Myers for the Madisen's Match charity event at The Landings Yacht, Golf and Tennis Club on March 13 and 15, raising funds for pediatric cancer support and featuring a Legends Tennis Camp, VIP Pro-Am plus Pro Tennis Classic Exhibition.  The News-Press
