  • Fort Myers Beach is getting ready for its St. Patrick's Day parade that is expected to cause traffic delays as Estero Boulevard will close from Santini Plaza to Sterling Avenue. The parade will start at 10 a.m. from Santini Plaza and finish at Sterling Avenue—residents and visitors are invited to join the celebration.  WINK News
  • Fort Myers Beach held an early St. Patrick's Day parade that returned after delays from COVID-19 and Hurricane Ian — over 40 floats and 300 participants marched along Estero Boulevard. The festivities ended with an after-parade party hosted by the Fort Myers Beach Woman's Club.  WINK News

  • Lee County health officials lifted nearly a dozen red tide health alerts for 20 beaches from Boca Grande Pass to Fort Myers Beach—marking an all-clear for many visitors—but health threats remain in parts of Collier and Charlotte counties. The alerts were issued after a red tide bloom spread along our coast earlier this year.  WGCU

HEALTH NEWS

  • Today, the Red Cross urges Fort Myers residents to prepare go-bags with water, a first-aid kit, snacks, clothes, chargers, and a seven-day supply of medications—so that if sudden fires force evacuations on Friday, you will be ready. They also recommend packing key documents—such as birth and marriage certificates and proof of address—to help you recover if your home is lost.  NBC2

  • FGCU won against the Sugar Bears by a score of 68 to 51 at Alico Arena — earning their ninth ASUN title and 11th NCAA Tournament trip in 14 years. Coach Chelsea Lyles said the team will celebrate today and plan next steps for reaching the Round of 32 in the tournament — after a strong middle-quarter push led by Emani Jefferson.  The News-Press
