ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A 46-year-old Fort Myers woman died and six others were injured in a head-on crash along Winkler Road near Averly Street Tuesday night when her car crossed the double yellow line in an attempt to pass traffic — colliding with an oncoming SUV. The News-Press
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Two Fort Myers men were convicted of second-degree murder after stabbing a man to death outside El Patron Restaurante on Palm Beach Boulevard on March 10, and video footage showed them chasing the victim while a security guard helped police—sentencing was scheduled for May 12. ABC7
- ➤ A fight on Fort Myers Beach on March 17th ended with 18-year-old Jack Turner reportedly biting off Juwan Black's ear at the intersection of Alva Drive— I Street while bystanders broke up the altercation and Black was taken to Gulf Coast Hospital— Turner now faces felony battery charges. Fox 4

- ➤ Marcus C. Thomas became a quadriplegic after a skiing accident on March 3rd, 1986 and later taught himself to paint with a modified brush. - ➤ Sen. Nick DiCeglie's proposed amendment to the transportation bill would raise the maximum highway speed to 75 mph if Gov. Ron DeSantis signs it. The change will take effect on July 1 and comes as lawmakers update other state transportation policies. The News-Press
- ➤ A new federally funded program called Elevate Florida helped homeowners protect their properties from storm damage by covering at least 75% of the project cost. On Wednesday, residents attended sessions at Tringali Community Center (3460 N. Access Road, Englewood 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.) and Marco Island Fire-Rescue Department Headquarters (1280 San Marco Road, Marco Island 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.) to learn more about the program. ABC7
