- ➤ Captiva Island residents worry that the expansion of South Seas Island Resort will worsen traffic — delaying emergency vehicles and making travel harder. The resort plans to add 12,168 units to the permitted 912 while county officials and its developers will present a rebuttal in April to address these safety concerns. WINK News

- ➤ A 39-year-old woman died when she lost control of her car while trying to flee from Fort Myers Police after being pulled over for a traffic stop on Friday night — she crashed into a concrete wall on Central Ave near Union St. Fox 4
- ➤ Two Lee County men pleaded guilty to a large-scale drug-trafficking conspiracy involving fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine sold from June 2022 to March 2023—Sam Young, 28, of Fort Myers received a 20-year sentence while Bryant Scharoun, 35, of Lehigh Acres will serve 15 years. - ➤ William Skaggs Jr. and Billie Adkison—owner and payroll administrator of Cape Coral's Nastar Roofing—were sentenced to prison for an employment tax conspiracy; Skaggs got three years in prison while Adkison received a year and a day, and both must serve three years of supervised release. ABC7
- ➤ Fort Myers police began a homicide investigation after a man was found dead in a condemned home along Braman Avenue on March 16—officers discovered a locked front door, a parked van, a red gas canister, and a 911 caller who refused to provide an ID while a person of interest is being sought. - ➤ A Fort Myers man, Pascual Francisco Jr., 26, pleaded guilty on Sept. 16 to charges of distributing controlled substances, carrying a firearm during a drug trafficking crime, and possessing a machine gun and was sentenced Monday to nine years and three months in federal prison—officials said the transactions occurred in late 2023 and early 2024. - ➤ Lee County Board of Port Commissioners approved an extra $346.7M for the terminal expansion at Southwest Florida International Airport that is more than four years behind schedule and over budget — the project will remodel 164,000 square feet and add 117,000 square feet to the terminal. Manhattan Construction noted design problems in August and September 2023 — the original contractors have been given a second chance to address the issues. WINK News
