- ➤ George Washington joined the Imagine That crew yesterday to celebrate the 250th anniversary of his first Congressional Gold Medal at I'm AG History and Science Center in Fort Myers. A large replica medal (crafted in record time) was showcased and the event ties in with an upcoming summer history camp for middle schoolers. ABC7
- ➤ Four top female singer-songwriters including April Cushman, Claire Liparulo, Shelly Fairchild and Kelly Neff perform today at Foulds Theatre at Alliance for the Arts from 7 to 9 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. with VIP tickets at $75 and general admission at $30 ($35 at the door). WGCU

- ➤ Authorities battled a 280-acre fire in Hendry County that was 45% contained yesterday, and a Special Weather Statement warned drivers of dense fog causing visibility to drop to a quarter mile along major routes such as Alligator Alley + Tamiami Trail. WINK News
- ➤ AccuWeather forecasts the hurricane season will feature 11 to 16 named storms with 4 to 7 hurricanes—major storms may intensify because of warm waters. NOAA is updating its forecast cone to include inland warnings to help Fort Myers residents prepare for storm risks after the season starts on June 1. Cape Coral Breeze
- ➤ The National Hurricane Center announced updates for the 2026 hurricane season (including permanent inland tropical storm and hurricane watches and a smaller track error cone) to help local residents track storms better. - ➤ Southwest Florida farmers hit by January’s freeze can apply for USDA relief programs that offer cost-share repairs for damaged crops and irrigation. Farmers should gather records and contact their local Farm Service Agency office soon + available help will support their recovery. Fox 4
- ➤ The Fort Myers Community Redevelopment Agency approved a $100,000 agreement with Bowman Consulting Group on Wednesday morning to study air rights for Edison Mall at Colonial Blvd and US 41. The study will guide potential mixed-use redevelopment with apartments, retail and other uses. ABC7

- ➤ The iconic Shell Factory in North Fort Myers is being dismantled by Honc Destruction, ending 80 years as a community attraction and paving the way for a mixed-use redevelopment. Demolition work will continue daily with the project expected to be cleared in the next several weeks. ABC7
