  • The Estero Island Historical Society will dedicate part of its annual meeting to honoring Fran Santini on Wednesday, April 8 at noon at Comfort Hall on Williams Dr — the event will feature an informal luncheon by Chef Keven and opportunities for her family to share memories.  Beach Talk Radio
  • Lee County and Harry Chapin Food Bank are ending the Donated Not Wasted campaign this week in Estero – donation boxes for unopened food, including pet food for Lee County Domestic Animal Services, are filling as seasonal residents prepare to head north.  WINK News

  • Lee BIA Builders Care and Pulte Homes celebrated a project milestone on March 13 by completing the framework for a new accessible home for a Fort Myers resident. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lee County emergency managers say visitors in short-term rentals might not get timely hurricane warnings in the Fort Myers area. They plan to work with Airbnb and VRBO to boost alerts after past storms left tourists unprepared (from a meeting on Mar. 31).  The News-Press

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • The Diocese of Venice in Florida and Fort Myers-based National Development of America broke ground on Casa San Juan Diego in Immokalee yesterday, launching work on 80 rental units for workers earning up to 60% median income; the project is expected to finish by early 2027.  WGCU
  • Ryan Companies began construction on the 350-unit Trailside at Dia Crossing multifamily community in Fort Myers on Tuesday along a 61-acre tract on US-41 at Alico Road + the project, purchased for over $20 million, will be move-in ready by the first quarter of 2027.  ABC7
