  • Broadway Palm Dinner Theatre in Fort Myers hosted a full house production of Cats on Feb. 26, 2026 — USA Today named it one of the nation's best dinner theaters in 2025 — and Prather Touring Company will launch a 20‑week national tour later this year.  The News-Press

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Chocolate prices jumped 14% earlier this year, leaving Fort Myers shoppers on alert as retailers like CVS, Walgreens, Target and Walmart offer deals including 25% off candy and buy-one-get-one promotions ahead of Easter Sunday.  WINK News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A federal appeals court ruled Friday that Florida broke the law in 2020 by letting state agencies handle wetlands permits, a move that puts panther habitats at risk.   • On Monday, Fort Myers City Council will consider a $987,439 demolition contract for City of Palms Park ballfield, with contractor David Mulicka of Honc Destruction—whose past DEP orders to clean up hazardous waste near Briarcliff have raised local water concerns.  WGCU

HEALTH NEWS

  • Local dietitian Gisela Bouvier discussed the Dirty Dozen list which names produce with the highest pesticide residues and explained that levels are well below EPA safety limits. She stressed consumers should rinse their fruits & vegetables whether buying conventional or organic to help maintain a healthy diet.  ABC7
  • According to the Florida Department of Health, Collier County reported two more measles cases, bringing its total to 106 while Lee County stays at three and statewide cases near 110. The virus spreads through the air and symptoms (fever, cough, and rash) typically appear within two weeks.  ABC7

  • Fort Myers Mighty Mussels opened their season yesterday at Hammond Stadium against the Clearwater Threshers at 7:05 p.m. They featured top prospects Riley Quick, Quentin Young & James Ellwanger and offered a packed schedule of weekly promotions and specialty games.  The News-Press
  • FC Naples, in its second season after a record-breaking 2025 debut, will host Orlando City SC in the third round of the U.S. Open Cup on April 14 or 15 in Southwest Florida.  WINK News
