- ➤ Joseph DiFiore, a World War II veteran, celebrated his 100th birthday at American House Senior Living Community in Fort Myers with family, friends, and fellow veterans while recalling his time as a gunner’s mate in the Philippines and New Guinea—he smiled and joked about the milestone. ABC7
- ➤ St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church on Fort Myers Beach held its first service in the newly renovated building last Sunday after Hurricane Ian caused heavy damage, and many congregants felt hopeful as they came together for communion. Dr. Jason Kutz said the church will host an Easter service tomorrow at 9 a.m. to invite the community to celebrate its renewed spirit on the beach. WINK News

- ➤ Southwest Airlines will add new Florida flights starting in August and will serve more cities from Fort Myers among 11 airports. It will also lay off about 1,750 corporate employees starting April 22 as part of a three-year plan to improve efficiency. The News-Press

- ➤ Authorities are seeking Alvin Castillo Lopez from Lehigh Acres after he failed to appear in court on charges of sexual battery on a child under 18—he is 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighs 140 pounds, and went into hiding after bonding out of jail. NBC2

- ➤ The Fort Myers Fire Department earned international accreditation from the Commission on Fire Accreditation International—joining more than 300 agencies worldwide and becoming only the third in Lee County to receive the honor. The accreditation is valid for five years and shows the department's commitment to improving service in the community. WGCU
- ➤ LeeTran will end the seasonal River District trolleys and Fort Myers Beach trams on April 23, and a new Lehigh express bus route will start on April 24 to speed travel between Lehigh and Fort Myers via the new Park & Ride station at 1121 Village Lakes Blvd.—The station offers bus bays, covered seating, restrooms and ADA compliant parking, with a ribbon cutting scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on April 29.
