  • More than 150 anglers participated in the 29th annual LCEC Fishing Tournament held Saturday in Matlacha to benefit United Way of Lee, Hendry, and Glades. Over nearly three decades, the event has raised over $800,000 for local programs + community support.  WINK News
  • A local Navy veteran is biking across America to raise money for the Tunnels to Towers Foundation, which helps first responders and veterans after 9/11. He will leave California on July 14 and ride to the Pentagon then to the 9/11 Memorial to honor their service.  ABC7
  • Tropicalia is showcasing reader photos from Sanibel, Cape Coral, and Fort Myers and inviting locals to email high-resolution submissions (with name, location and camera type) for possible publication.  The News-Press

  • Blue Origin’s New Glenn rocket will lift off today from Cape Canaveral between 6:45 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. ET, and weather permitting, its bright launch may be seen across much of Florida — from the Eastern Coast to parts of neighboring states.  The News-Press
  • Southwest Florida’s dining scene — marked by change — is shifting as Misto Bar and Grill in Cape Coral closed after 15 years, Golden Rind in Fort Myers will close April 30, Artisan Eatery is under new ownership, and Cheesesteaks.Com, Capriotti’s and Chicken Salad Chick open later this week.  The News-Press

  • RSW has grown over four decades with a February passenger count of 1,190,070 — a 1.4% rise from last February — marking three consecutive months over 1 million travelers. Terminal Expansion Phase 2, a $1.1B project started Oct. 1, will add 14 new gates to handle growing traffic.  The News-Press
