ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A 24-year-old Lehigh Acres man died in a high-speed crash on Interstate 75 on April 18 when a lane change led to a collision near mile marker 131 that injured two North Fort Myers men—Florida Highway Patrol is still investigating the incident. The News-Press
- ➤ A fast-moving fire erupted just before 6 p.m. tonight on Bogart Drive in North Fort Myers from an illegal burn that spread quickly due to dry conditions and high winds, prompting North Fort Myers, Bayshore and Cape Coral fire departments + the Florida Forest Service to contain the blaze after it exploded a travel trailer and burned half an acre of brush, though no homes were damaged and no one was injured. - ➤ One person died after falling off a boat on the Estero River on Saturday — a third individual rescued the victim and Lee County EMS declared them dead at the hospital. WINK News
- ➤ A sedan and a truck collided on Gunnery Road S and 8th Street SW in Lehigh Acres, causing a truck to roll over and injuring two people who were taken to Gulf Coast Hospital — the Department of Transportation said nearby signals, a peg pole, and a meter were damaged and repairs will begin soon. - ➤ On April 19, a pipe burst under the sand near Lynn Hall Memorial Park on Fort Myers Beach and sent a geyser of water into the air while town crews repaired a leak on a dredge pipe as part of a beach renourishment project—residents are advised to stay cautious in the area. ABC7
