- ➤ Fort Myers Beach Marine Operations Team and the Anchorage Advisory Committee will host Cruisers’ Appreciation Day this Sunday at Bayside Veterans Park from 1—3 p.m. as boaters registered at the Matanzas Pass Mooring Field receive a free meal — nonprofit groups, prize drawings and live music will extend the celebration during the Bayside Park Concert Series. - ➤ Florida artist Leoma Lovegrove died April 10 at her North Fort Myers home after battling stage-four breast cancer at age 72. Fans will honor her work with three events—one at Broadway Palm dinner theater on April 28, a candlelight vigil in Matlacha on April 30, and an Art Walk celebration and gallery reopening on May 2. - ➤ In March, 1,463,628 passengers passed through the Fort Myers airport—a 3% drop from March last year—and year-to-date traffic is down 3.5%. Southwest Florida International Airport had 12,010 aircraft operations (a 3% increase) while Page Field saw 13,338 operations, a 14% decrease compared to March last year. The News-Press

- ➤ Calusa Waterkeeper found the highest levels of fecal indicator bacteria ever recorded at a test site in Manual’s Branch near a trailer park on Canal Street last month in Fort Myers. The group said the dangerous bacteria may cause stomach sickness and urged the city to post warning signs and work on fixing wastewater problems — to help keep the water safe. Fox 4

- ➤ Lee County Utilities has ended a precautionary boil water notice for about 580 residences along Orange River Boulevard east of Interstate 75 after tests showed the water is safe following a contractor’s damage to a water main on April 21—residents with addresses from 9701 to 10271 can now use their water normally. - ➤ The Lee County Sheriff's Office has acquired a first-of-its-kind American made drone—funded by a nearly $400,000 grant from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement—to boost emergency response times from its 2nd Precinct, where the drone covers a 2-mile area with its camera, radio, and siren. The drone is the first in a 12-month rollout to deploy more cost-effective aerial support compared to helicopters. WINK News
- ➤ City leaders approved a $14 million Tax Increment Financing rebate for developers to build the 11—story Tempo by Hilton hotel on the corner of First and Jackson in downtown Fort Myers. Developers said construction will begin as early as February if they complete all stories—ensuring the project revives a lot vacant for over 20 years. Fox 4
