  • In 2025, Community Cooperative’s Meals on Wheels program delivered more than 129,000 fresh meals to local seniors and disabled individuals, helping them cope with rising living costs. The service also provided wellness checks and pet food to support community members in need.  The News-Press
  • The Kappa Alpha Order presented wounded Navy veteran Craig Messina with a $26,000 track chair at FGCU's Swanson Stadium after years of fundraising through events like pumpkin patches & fishing tournaments. The chair will help him spend more time with his children.  WINK News

  • Walmart is remodeling its Estero Supercenter (19975 S Tamiami Trail) with new layouts, updated pharmacies, and interactive displays as part of a $1.5 billion plan to modernize 58 Florida stores.   • The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools honored six teachers at the Golden Apple Banquet held Friday, April 24 at the Caloosa Sound Convention Center in downtown Fort Myers.   • The Housing Authority of the City of Fort Myers marked Affordable Housing Month by opening Latimer Crossing and breaking ground at Strayhorn Place, Legacy Point & The Arwyn.   • Florida Commissioner of Agriculture Wilton Simpson issued an emergency rule that requires extra veterinary screenings for animals imported from high-risk Texas counties due to recent New World Screwworm detections near the border.
