- ➤ From May 1 through 17, Lee County Domestic Animal Services will participate in the Bissell Pet Foundation’s 'Empty the Shelters' event to offer waived adoption fees for cats and dogs (all pets are spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped) to help more pets find loving homes. ABC7
- ➤ The Fort Myers Beach PTO partnered with the Kiwanis Club and The Goodz on Sunday for a beach cleanup by the local shoreline. In two hours, kids collected over 650 pieces of debris (including cigarette butts, plastic bags, and beverage cans) to monitor marine health. Beach Talk Radio

- ➤ Wild Turkey Strand Preserve will be closed from May 4 to May 8 for habitat enhancement — heavy equipment will trim vegetation and upgrade its road and parking lot at 11901 Rod and Gun Club Road, so visitors are advised to use alternate locations. WINK News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Lee County Utilities announced an 8-hour water outage starting at 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 28, for over 1,600 North Fort Myers residences and 22 businesses along US-41 north of Del Prado Boulevard; a boil water notice will follow when service is restored and is expected to end by week's end. ABC7
REAL ESTATE NEWS
- ➤ Fort Myers is undergoing widespread redevelopment as Legacy Harbour Marina will reopen May 1 after rebuilding 131 boat slips and ONE Fort Myers, a 21-story high-rise, is under construction along the Caloosahatchee River. Additional projects including new hotel proposals and parking expansions promise more growth downtown + surrounding neighborhoods. ABC7
