- ➤ Cape Coral police responded to a call about a small alligator roaming a neighborhood off Porto Vista Parkway—officers used a towel and medical tape to restrain the reptile before placing it in a squad car and releasing it into a pond. The News-Press
- ➤ More than 400 people joined the seventh annual Best Buddies Friendship Walk Saturday morning at Estero Community Park to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. - ➤ Historical records show that on February 20, 1865, Union forces including New York volunteers and black soldiers repelled a brief Confederate attack at Fort Myers amid heavy rain and cannon fire. Historians note the skirmish was a minor win for the Union and continue to study conflicting accounts of the event + its role in cutting off Confederate beef supplies from south Florida.
