- ➤ Roberto Clemente Park in Fort Myers is being upgraded with a new playground and amphitheater for the Dunbar community while construction noise will last until November. - ➤ The Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission says private landowners may humanely shoot Burmese pythons on their property if they use proper methods (such as a firearm or captive bolt to ensure immediate unconsciousness and brain destruction). The invasive snakes have harmed local wildlife and can be killed immediately on private property or FWC managed lands when spotted. The News-Press

- ➤ On May 5, Hurricane Preparedness Week focused on steps for residents to ready themselves before the season begins—advising people to gather supplies, verify insurance, plan evacuations, and fortify their homes.
