  • Three women are wanted for stealing $986 worth of items from the Estero Ulta at 1:47 p.m. Saturday on Mediterranean Drive—Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers is asking anyone who recognizes them to call 1-800-780-8477.  WINK News
  • Two Fort Myers men aged 25 and 26, Jacinto Lopez Sanchez and Domingo Rudy Velasco Ostuma, were sentenced to life in prison for stabbing a man outside a local nightclub on March 10—each received credit for 429 days served and were banned from contacting the victim's family.  ABC7
  • The Lee County Sheriff’s Office arrested 24-year-old Alfonso Alexander Perez Nas on Figueroa Avenue at 6:30 p.m. Saturday after witnesses reported he violently threw a kitten—killing it—and later buried it in a shallow grave; he now faces charges of aggravated animal cruelty.  WINK News

  • The Lee County School Board will review an outside consultant’s report on June 3rd at 1 p.m. to discuss Beach Elementary School’s future, a move that has parents and ad-hoc committee members worried the report could lead to the school's closure despite rising enrollment. Local officials believe that delays in finalizing repair plans may further impact enrollment numbers and the school’s long-term viability.  Beach Talk Radio

  • Former Marine Mike Pedersen declared his run for Florida’s 19th Congressional District by parachuting in Cape Coral—joining a crowded GOP primary to succeed Byron Donalds, who is running for governor. The 20-year veteran said he is ready to face tough issues and vowed to protect Social Security as he steps into politics.  ABC7
  • Lee County will unveil a new 36,873 square-foot, $38.5 million Public Safety Center addition at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 29 at 2675 Ortiz Ave—officials will offer tours after brief remarks from county leaders.  Cape Coral Breeze
