- ➤ Fort Myers police arrested David Thurman, 61, on May 12 after a tip that he was loitering outside a 7-Eleven—he is charged with second-degree murder for the March 16 killing of Vely Jean-Pierre, 67, with arraignment set for June 16. The News-Press
