- ➤ Construction began on the All Veterans Memorial at Centennial Park to honor local vets. Suffolk, along with design partners and City officials + community groups, is building the space for reflection ahead of the nation’s 250th anniversary. The News-Press
- ➤ The town approved JR Evans to rebuild Newton Park, destroyed in September 2022, using $497,750 in federal funds; new detailed renderings will be released in about 60 days and work is expected to last 18 months. Beach Talk Radio

- ➤ Seoul Vibez, Southwest Florida’s first instant ramen bar, offers customized bowls and Korean street food while doubling as a mini market for imported Asian snacks. - ➤ Bishop Verot High School's Class of 2026 graduated on Saturday, May 16 in the school's gymnasium on Sunrise Drive off Summerlin Road in Fort Myers, where about 218 students earned their diplomas. The News-Press
- ➤ Lee County schools will end the 2025-2026 year on June 1 while other counties finish as early as May 21, with summer break starting after Memorial Day (May 25) and most districts reopening on Aug. 10. The News-Press

- ➤ El Nino is raising wind shear in the Atlantic which may reduce storm numbers but experts warn one hurricane can still hit Florida so residents should prepare. NOAA will release its official forecast later this week. The News-Press
