- ➤ Experts say residents should now build hurricane supply kits with water, food, and important documents as the forecast predicts an above-average Atlantic hurricane season with 13-19 named storms—six to 10 of which could become hurricanes. - ➤ The city Board of Adjustments approved a conditional use request for a new Fort Myers Police headquarters at 2150 Fowler Street, and construction will start in February 2026 with a planned move in June 2027—projected overall costs near $139 million and 18% more space than the current facility. - ➤ Florida is getting ready for an active hurricane season as forecasters predict 13 to 19 named storms starting Sunday and lasting through Nov. 30—Gov. DeSantis said the state has solid emergency plans in place in case FEMA scales back its support.
