- ➤ A 12-year-old North Fort Myers girl was nearly fatally stabbed by her mother during a photography class visit to the Cecil Webb Wildlife Management Area when the accused, Gwendolyn Girard, 35, dragged her to a creek and buried her in debris after the girl pretended dead to call for help—Girard now faces charges of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and aggravated child abuse with a $750,000 bond while the girl remains hospitalized.
