- ➤ Mound House museum in Fort Myers Beach will unveil a new public water quality monitoring station on June 14 at 10:00 a.m. at 451 Connecticut St that collects 14 types of water data—temperature, salinity, turbidity, pH and depth—to educate residents and visitors and support research in Estero Bay. - ➤ The School District of Lee County and Summer BreakSpot are partnering to offer free week-long breakfast and lunch meal kits on selected Mondays from June 9 to July 28 at nine local sites, with parents needing to provide documentation to verify children 18 and under. The district and Summer BreakSpot will also provide free daily meals at over 100 locations — including Cape Coral Parks—every weekday from June 9 to July 30 to ensure children have nutritious meals during the summer. - ➤ The Lee County Public Safety Center reopened Thursday after a ribbon cutting ceremony and added a new building that now houses 70 employees on routine days while accommodating up to 250 during emergencies. - ➤ Lee County will ban the use of fertilizer with phosphorus or nitrogen from June 1 to Sept. 30 to protect waterways from harmful runoff—homeowners are urged to follow all related guidelines to avoid violations. ABC7
- ➤ Today, the recall committee announced that they collected over 450 signatures—more than the 337 needed—to recall Town councilmembers John King and Karen Woodson, and the petitions were submitted to the Town Clerk’s Office for verification by the Lee County Supervisor of Elections.
