- ➤ The School District of Lee County and BreakSpot are partnering to offer a seven-day meal kit for children 18 and younger every Monday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.—available at nine sites from June 9 to July 28; BreakSpot will also provide free breakfast and lunch on weekdays through July 30. - ➤ Authorities are seeking three men wanted for an armed robbery at Fort Myers' 777 Arcade at 18731 Three Oaks Parkway, where on Wednesday at approximately 9:45 p.m. a man used the restroom before two masked suspects—one armed with a large kitchen knife—entered, took money from the register, and fled in a gray Hyundai sedan. - ➤ On Tuesday, the Lee County School Board approved an incentive package offering up to $9,000 for teachers willing to transfer to at-risk schools to help fill instructional vacancies. The Teachers Association of Lee County criticized the plan as a pay cut for many (since most educators would receive no incentive) and said they are reviewing legal options. North Fort Myers Neighbor
- ➤ Heritage Charter Academy broke ground on a new $23 million campus on 10 acres at Northeast 19th Avenue in Cape Coral that will allow the school to grow from 255 to 750 students over the next five years—adding modern classrooms, a playground, a soccer field, and an indoor court to support a whole child approach. Construction is expected to finish by December with a move-in planned before spring break and the project will enhance both safety and community partnerships. Cape Coral Breeze

- ➤ On Tuesday, June 3, bottlenose dolphins swam through Big Carlos Pass while reddish egrets and black skimmers hunted for food along Fort Myers Beach’s south end, a nesting area for leat terns & snowy and Wilson’s plovers. The News-Press

- ➤ Lee County Property Appraiser Matt Caldwell delivered the 2025 Estimated Property Values to taxing authorities as the county recovers from recent hurricanes and taxable values increased about 5% year over year. Caldwell said the office will certify the values on or before July 1 — taxpayers will then receive their trim notice in mid-August. Cape Coral Breeze
- ➤ The Florida Department of Transportation finished the diverging diamond interchange at Colonial Boulevard and I-75 in Fort Myers after four and a half years of construction, which improved traffic flow and safety. The agency said it will start a smaller project at Daniels Parkway and Six Mile that is expected to be finished in two years. The News-Press
- ➤ Hurricane season is underway and Fort Myers will host a Hurricane Preparedness Expo tomorrow from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Collaboratory on Jackson Street, where local emergency teams and over 40 partner organizations will provide essential safety tips and resources—residents are also urged to clear yards of loose waste to reduce storm hazards.
