- ➤ On June 10, Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County dedicated a new playground at Park Meadows Community Club near U.S. 41 and Summerlin Road, where renovations to create its first flagship location are underway. The playground—funded by GL Homes’ 2025 Passion for Playgrounds initiative and costing about $127,000—offers multiple slides, climbers, and play features for hundreds of Fort Myers children. ABC7

- ➤ A 10-year-old girl was attacked by a shark while snorkeling off Boca Grande on Wednesday & her hand was severely injured as medics and local workers used a shirt as a tourniquet before rushing her to Tampa General Hospital where doctors reattached her hand and she is showing movement in two fingers. - ➤ Frontier Airlines announced today a new nonstop flight from RSW to ATL that will fly twice a week with fares as low as $59 if tickets are bought by June 25 — travel starts on June 27 with blackout dates on July 3, 6 and Sept 1 as part of its America’s Greenest Airline promotion. The News-Press

- ➤ The Lee County Sheriff's Office is asking for help to identify a man involved in a domestic violence disturbance that occurred on June 8 at 19th Street West in Lehigh Acres. ABC7
- ➤ Brandt Diaz, 39, sustained life-threatening injuries including a shattered nose, broken jaw, and missing teeth when inmate Yanko Romero—a murder suspect—beat him in his Lee County Jail cell, and his family demanded accountability for the decision to house them together. NBC2

- ➤ From Aug. 1 to Oct. 31, 2024, Charlotte County led Southwest Florida with 4,885 flood claims during a busy hurricane season. Over 78,000 claims were filed in the state—officials said storms like Debby, Helene and Milton caused widespread flooding. WINK News
