  • Four affordable housing properties in Fort Myers will receive $24.5 million in federal funds to fix Hurricane Ian damage — the Housing Authority will relocate residents temporarily as renovations begin once the funding is received.  Fox 4
  • Residents in North Fort Myers have long dealt with an abandoned home off River Road that spreads trash onto the streets and shows signs of decay. Lee County Code Enforcement is reviewing the property after a June 5th notice warned the owner of a $500 per day fine if the cleanup is not completed within 21 days+ neighbors are hoping for a swift resolution.  WINK News

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A fatal crash on I-75 southbound near mile marker 136 caused major traffic delays in Fort Myers at 5 a.m. on Thursday along Colonial Boulevard near the Forum — officials closed the right lane while investigating the cause.  WINK News

BUSINESS NEWS

  • HM Restaurant Group, which owns Doc Ford’s and Dixie Fish, said it is upgrading the old Bonita Bill’s into Bonita Fish Company with a large center bar — daily music — 300 seats and a fresh seafood menu while preserving the building’s historic charm. The restaurant will reopen later this year at 702 Fishermans Wharf on Fort Myers Beach, and a new floating dock marina is planned for 2026.  Beach Talk Radio

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • New data from Realtor.com shows that the median home price in Lee County dropped to $370,000 in March—2.6% lower than February and 5.1% lower than last March. Single-family homes and condos saw price drops as total recorded sales fell 11.4% compared to last year.  The News-Press

  • Eleven-year-old gymnast Harper Usseglio trains 22 hours each week at Coast Elite Gymnastics Academy in Fort Myers and says the Olympics are on her mind. She qualified as one of 28 gymnasts for the selective Hopes Classic in Illinois and will leave Wednesday, June 25 for the national competition beginning June 27—her coaches praise her dedication.  ABC7
