- ➤ Surfers for Autism hosted a free surf festival at Fort Myers Beach on Saturday where about 80 participants gained confidence riding small waves. The nonprofit, which has held these events since 2008 to support individuals with autism, will hold its next festival on Aug. 9 at Jacksonville Beach. WINK News
- ➤ Local firefighter cadets in Lehigh Acres are holding a car wash at the station to raise money for their next statewide competition—money that will help cover travel costs for up to eight contests a year. WINK News

- ➤ The Lee County Sheriff's Office arrested one suspect after a break-in triggered a small fire at a Planet Fitness gym in Fort Myers — no injuries were reported and the manager said the gym will reopen tomorrow at 5:00 p.m. ABC7

- ➤ The Art Association for Artists, a volunteer group since 1951, hosts Lunch-N-Learn sessions at 13451 McGregor Blvd., Unit 1 on Saturdays during the summer—these free sessions let local members join art talks and workshops. - ➤ Lee County School District said it will offer teachers extra pay of up to $9,000 on top of their base salary—aiming to attract high-quality educators to academically challenged schools and key subjects like math, English, and science. The district plans to have top teachers in every classroom when school starts in August and is using an approach separate from collective bargaining. The News-Press
- ➤ Lee County School District celebrated over 6,000 graduates from 15 high schools who earned more than $70 million in scholarships & excelled in academics, sports, arts, and JROTC while the district also improved school safety with state-funded upgrades and launched a Safe Start Initiative to help nearly 8,000 bus riders arrive on time.
