  • The Gulf Coast Humane Society introduced Rosa, an 8-year-old hound mix rescued after severe emaciation and diagnosed with demodex mange and heartworm on June 16. Rosa qualifies for the Silver Paws VIP Program—waiving adoption fees and offering free vet care for adopters 65 and older—to help her find a loving home.  ABC7

  • After more than 30 years of local theater, Theatre Conspiracy is taking its final bow in Fort Myers with its Farewell Florida Tour season featuring Carly Churchill’s play 'Escaped Alone' running now through July 26—this season honors founding director Bill Taylor and donates proceeds to local nonprofits.  Florida Weekly

  • Lee County schools honor local leaders by naming institutions after notable figures such as Ida S. Baker, the first Black female high school principal; Hector A. Cafferata, Jr., a Marine Medal of Honor recipient; Paul Laurence Dunbar, a celebrated poet; and Rayma C. Page, the first woman elected to the school board.   • Florida nonprofits, doctors and families demanded immediate action Tuesday to shut down the ICE detention facility called Alligator Alcatraz in the Everglades because flood-prone tents, overcrowded pods and extreme heat led to hospitalizations—health experts and activists described the site as a public health crisis and urged evacuation, emergency screenings and independent inspections.  ABC7
  • The Fort Myers Police Department hosted the 7th Annual Blood Drive on Tuesday and is running it today at Lee Memorial Hospital from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. to honor fallen Officer Adam Jobbers-Miller—who was shot nearly seven years ago while on a call at a gas station.  WINK News
