- ➤ On Saturday, Fort Myers families joined the Kids Kourt event organized by the Children's Advocacy Center where children, paired with an Assistant State Attorney, argued cases in a mock courtroom led by Judge Robert Branning. Fathers defended their positions while the judge explained due process (a key part of the justice system) to help everyone understand how courts work. Fox 4
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A three-car crash late Sunday temporarily closed both directions of U.S. 41 near Victoria and Edison avenues in Fort Myers – two people were hospitalized, several others sustained minor injuries, and the southbound lanes reopened early Monday as investigators continued looking into the incident. - ➤ A Lehigh woman, 42-year-old Marianne Isnar, was arrested on Sunday after deputies found her two children left in a non-running vehicle at a Dollar Tree on Homestead Road where the car's interior reached 100 degrees. WINK News

- ➤ The Heights Center distributed free school supplies to hundreds of children on Saturday in Fort Myers. Around 40 volunteers handed out book bags, pencils, and notebooks—helping families get ready for the school year starting August 11. Fox 4

- ➤ Fort Myers has opened a new $2.6M firefighter training facility that replaces a 50-year-old building and features live fire exercises in shipping containers — the facility took six months to build to boost emergency response skills. WINK News
- ➤ The City Council met Monday morning to discuss restoring McCollum Hall, which had sat stagnant for 20 years in the heart of Fort Myers — officials said they would work with the Community Redevelopment Agency and developers to decide the best plan. The project aims to revitalize the landmark for the Dunbar community and the entire city. WINK News
- ➤ Lee County Domestic Animal Services will team with the Sheriff’s Office to hold a free kitten adoption event at Miromar outreach center in Estero on Aug. 7 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.—adoption fees will be waived for approved applications. Cape Coral Breeze
