  • Fort Myers-based NeoGenomics reported record Q2 revenue up 10% to $181 million—but its net loss jumped over 140% to $45 million, sending shares down more than 20% in pre-market trading. The company lowered its year-end financial outlook amid continued challenges in its pharmaceutical and biotechnology services.  The News-Press

CRIME NEWS

  • An 86-year-old man was arrested for DUI manslaughter after he drove the wrong way on Interstate 75 near mile marker 139 in Lee County on September 29, causing a head-on crash that killed a 56-year-old woman—he now faces charges including vehicular homicide and DUI causing property damage.  Fox 4
  • Lee County detectives located Leonel Duarte using an Apple AirTag—placed in a polyglass roll by a roofing worker—and he is accused of stealing 40 rolls of polyglass from construction sites in Verdana Village and Buckingham, with 51 rolls later found and returned as he remains in jail.  ABC7
  • Larry Wayne Farmer, an 86-year-old Cape Coral man, was arrested on July 29 at Lee County Jail—he faces DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide, driving with a revoked license causing death, and two counts of DUI causing property damage after he drove the wrong way on I-75 in 2024 and collided with a car driven by a 56-year-old woman who later died.  ABC7

  • Saint Hilary’s Helping Hands Ministry is seeking reading and math volunteers at Orange River—Orangewood, Manatee and Villas elementary schools in Fort Myers.   • Volunteers in Fort Myers can join Florida’s Great Southeast Pollinator Census on August 22-23 by counting pollinating insects on selected plants and uploading their data via a QR code+ UF/IFAS Extension agents say the exercise will help protect pollinators and educate residents on insect identification+.  WGCU
