- ➤ The Cape Coral Police Department released crime statistics showing a 28% drop and community leaders praised the police for their work. A strong thunderstorm moved near Marco Island on August 16th with wind gusts up to 50 mph — officials warned residents to secure loose items and seek shelter. WINK News
- ➤ Authorities arrested 25-year-old Michael Paulino Friday on Lee Blvd for driving 140 mph on his motorcycle without a license—three times the speed limit—and local residents said they are alarmed by the dangerous speeds, with no injuries reported. ABC7
