- ➤ Miller’s Ale House opened August 18 at the new Marketplace at Coconut Point in Estero and received over 1,000 job applications, hiring 138 workers in three weeks. - ➤ The Fort Myers Beach Town Council passed a resolution on Monday to extend the removal deadline for structures with Emergency Temporary Placement Permits to June 1 if owners prove hardship—applications will be accepted starting September 2 with a fee that may be waived upon proof, and all permit holders must meet floodplain and occupancy rules. - ➤ Lee County Parks & Recreation announced that demolition of hurricane-damaged splash pads will begin Wednesday at Lakes Regional Park in Fort Myers, with a temporary fence set up Monday and path closures during work—Gulfpoint Construction Company Inc. will handle the $2.6 million project that builds new splash pads, concrete pads, plumbing, electrical components, and shade structures expected to finish by summer 2026.
