- ➤ American Legion Riders Chapter 90 will hold its third annual Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day event on Sept. 13 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Post 90 in Cape Coral—raising funds for Project: VetRelief to aid veterans with emergency needs. The event will feature Irish dishes including corned beef and cabbage sandwiches and shepherd’s pie, along with live music by Buddy Smith and Kellyn Celtic Dancers, door prizes, 50/50 raffles and drink specials. - ➤ Margaritaville Beach Resort will host its second annual Day of Service on Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. as part of Labor Day Weekend and Jimmy Buffett Day celebrations; the event will feature a Carnival of Fun with games, activities and drink specials whose proceeds benefit My Autism Connection. - ➤ A man was arrested for stealing a shuttle bus and crashing into a passenger-filled bus at Southwest Florida International Airport at 10:14 a.m.—Melvin Bogus admitted his guilt and said he acted because he thought people were after him while witnesses confirmed no one was injured. NBC2
