- ➤ Charlotte County firefighters and deputies rushed to a garage fire on Mindanao Lane in Port Charlotte this morning—neighbors noted the high number of emergency vehicles—as the homeowner heard loud bangs and saw flames that damaged a car and part of his home, and no injuries were reported. - ➤ Kearns Restaurant Group and Cape Coral agreed on a new 30-year lease for the Boathouse at the Cape Coral Yacht Club—this deal sets a base rent and rising sales percentages while giving a city credit for the first 10 years. The plan calls for demolishing the current building on Sept. 18 and will be sent to the city council on Sept. 17 as the group prepares to build a larger facility that can better handle storms.
