- ➤ The Lee County Supervisor of Elections announced that candidate qualifying for the Fort Myers Beach recall election will begin Tuesday, Sept 16 at 1 p.m. and end Monday, Sept 22 at the Melvin Morgan Constitutional Complex—candidates must pay a $684.09 fee or collect 34 valid petition signatures, with the recall triggered by allegations of Sunshine Law violations against council members. - ➤ The Town of Fort Myers Beach Council voted four to one to not set a qualifying period for candidates in the special recall election for councilmembers John King and Karen Woodson—this move sets up a showdown with Chief Judge J. - ➤ Lee County Supervisor of Elections set the qualifying period for the Fort Myers Beach recall election for Karen Woodson and John King's seats from Tuesday, Sept. 16 at 1 p.m. to Monday, Sept. 22 at noon at the Main Office in the Melvin Morgan Constitutional Complex on Thompson St. — candidates must meet the Sept. 16 noon petition deadline with 34 signatures and pay a fee of $171.02 or, if filing later, pay $684.09. - ➤ Residents from Naples and Cape Coral gathered at a local YMCA event where Suzanne Perry—who has kidney failure and has used her 'KIDNEY NEEDED' car message for five years—shared her urgent search for a kidney donor, noting that she must be near in case a match is found within two hours. The Burton family is working to connect donors with recipients and is hopeful that Tori Burton’s stepdaughter tests will soon confirm a lifesaving match. WINK News

- ➤ High school football players in the Fort Myers area shone in Week 4 as Javien Altine rushed for 168 yards and Arthur Gallishaw ran for a career-high 291 yards to lead local teams to wins—Riverdale, Cape Coral, and Dunbar kept unbeaten records while Lehigh gained a win.
