- ➤ Fort Myers Beach Woman’s Club will host its 14th Annual Putt & Pub fundraiser on January 17 with an expanded 12-hole course that is expected to draw nearly 400 golfers and many spectators to local bars and restaurants. - ➤ Senior homelessness in Southwest Florida is rising as St. Matthews House reported almost 200 seniors over 50 staying on any given night in 2023, up from 44 in 2022—rising costs and fixed incomes are fueling the surge. Fox 4

- ➤ 31 Produce, a restaurant and market in North Fort Myers known for its giant strawberry landmark, closed permanently Sunday due to eminent domain for a State Road 31 widening project. - ➤ The League of Women Voters of Lee County will provide an update on Florida redistricting on Oct. 4 from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. at the Collaboratory at 2031 Jackson Street in Fort Myers — the update will explain legislators' plans for mid-cycle redistricting that may undermine trust in the regular process. - ➤ Lee County Legal Aid Society will host a free legal clinic for seniors on Oct. 15 at the Collaboratory—2031 Jackson St.—from 9 a.m. to noon, offering help with issues such as contractor fraud and insurance disputes stemming from past hurricanes. - ➤ The Town of Fort Myers Beach will more aggressively enforce cleanup standards as frustrated residents complain that properties remain messy three years after Hurricane Ian. - ➤ At Harns Marsh Middle School in Lehigh Acres, 80 middle and high school basketball players played in the eighth annual Stef'An Strawder Memorial Showcase to honor the Fort Myers teen killed in the Club Blu mass shooting of 2016—an event that gave local players a chance to be seen by around 20 college scouts. Strawder’s uncle Keith White noted the tournament continues his legacy while a suspect recently pleaded no contest to a 23-year term, which he said is a step toward justice. Fox 4
