- ➤ Home Base Florida will host its 10th annual golf tournament at Pelican’s Nest Golf Club in Bonita Springs on November 3 at 10:30 a.m. to raise funds for no-cost clinical care for veterans and military families affected by service-related trauma — the event will feature a ball drop fundraiser with a Lee County Sheriff’s Office helicopter and is already sold out with 244 golfers. - ➤ The Fort Myers Beach Chamber of Commerce passed a resolution urging the Lee County School District to honor its agreement by keeping Fort Myers Beach Elementary School open through at least 2027 and stopping plans for demolition, which were added without public discussion on October 7—officials criticized the last-minute inclusion of a Castaldi Report and called for mediation to restore trust in the community. - ➤ About 30 residents came to the North Fort Myers Public Library Tuesday evening to learn about Lee County’s 25-year transportation plan that includes 59 projects valued up to $4 billion by 2050.
