- ➤ Chabad of Southwest Florida held a prayer service today at 8 a.m. to mark Hashan Rabah and celebrate the safe return of 20 Israeli hostages, with Rabbi Minkowicz using a lulav and Etrog—symbols of unity during the ritual. Additional celebrations are planned for Tuesday evening and Wednesday with Kiddush and dancing as the community expresses gratitude and hopes for lasting peace. WINK News
- ➤ Lee County Commissioner and former Red Sox great Mike Greenwell died last week after a short battle with cancer—his Celebration of Life will be held Saturday at Gate D of JetBlue Park with comments from family, elected officials and Boston Red Sox representatives, along with displays of memorabilia and music. - ➤ The owners of Salty Sam’s Marina announced that their new waterfront restaurant, Marina Cantina Waterfront Tin Tiki, opens Wednesday at 2200 Main Street in Fort Myers Beach—rebuilt from a hurricane-damaged historic shrimp packing building. - ➤ Researchers from the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation found that sea turtles still face long-term risks from red tide toxins after a devastating hurricane and red tide event. The study revealed that contaminated nesting females are transferring toxins to hatchlings—further tracking aims to determine effects on hatch success and guide future water quality management.
