  • Families enjoyed the fall spirit at the Edison and Ford Winter Estates' 4th Annual Fall Festival on Saturday. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Saturday, a Boeing 737 charter flight from Cuba left the runway upon landing at RSW and became disabled on the taxiway, causing delays before the runway was inspected and reopened at 4:20 p.m.—no injuries were reported, officials said.  Fox 4
  • On Saturday, an Eastern Airways charter flight veered off a Southwest Florida International Airport runway, causing a 90-minute closure for safety checks and flight delays—officials said an investigation is underway while passengers were safely evacuated.  The News-Press

  • Fort Myers archives show that local resident Thomas Edison built his winter home in 1886 and invented the kinetoscope and vitascope—devices that spurred filmmakers to move to Hollywood and shaped the film industry.   • Town Manager Will McKannay said Fort Myers Beach Elementary will be rebuilt at its current site with up to 90% of costs covered by FEMA and state grants to keep the school as a community anchor for local families and jobs.
