- ➤ Hundreds of community members gathered Saturday at JetBlue Stadium to honor Mike Greenwell — a former Red Sox player and Lee County Commissioner who died Oct 9 after battling thyroid cancer. - ➤ More than three years after Hurricane Ian, timeshare owners at Mariner's Boathouse and Beach Resort on Fort Myers Beach united to raise funds through their nonprofit Boathouse Strong and hired Modern Services to resume reconstruction. They expect temporary occupancy in the next week or two and a full reopening by early 2026. WINK News
- ➤ The Fort Myers Community Redevelopment Agency has launched an online survey to ask residents for their views on the future of the restored McCollum Hall—built in 1938 by Clifford ‘Buck’ McCollum Sr. The historic hall, listed on the National Register of Historic Places on April 18, is a key part of redevelopment plans along Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. WINK News

- ➤ American White Pelicans in Florida show unique traits such as a flat structure growing from their upper bill during nesting season that may attract a mate+ they also display bright red eyelids, light yellow head plumes, and bright orange facial skin and legs at the start of breeding season while migrating mainly from the northwest to southeast due to our water and sunshine. - ➤ Lee County Solid Waste will return to a standard collection schedule on Monday, Oct. 27—residents in unicorporated Lee County, Fort Myers Beach, Estero and Bonita Springs must set out their trash, recycling and yard waste by 6:30 a.m.—which is one hour later than the seasonal schedule used during the warmer months. - ➤ Fort Myers City Council is expected to approve a $330,241 grant from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to build a five-slip dock at Legacy Island Park on the Caloosahatchee. The park will also feature walking trails, a public observation pier — and a picnic pavilion to create a new community space. ABC7

- ➤ Premier Mobile Health Services will host its seventh annual Breakfast with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 6 from 9 a.m. to noon at City of Palms Park’s east parking lot—families will have breakfast while children meet Santa, receive a free toy when supplies last, and enjoy free health screenings along with prize giveaways of bicycles and haircuts for kids.
