- ➤ St. Raphael’s Episcopal Church has rebuilt its sanctuary at 5601 Williams Drive after Hurricane Ian damaged the original building in 2022 and will hold a service on Sunday at 10 a.m. plus on Saturday, Father Michael will share the good news and Ellie Bunting will lead a building tour at 8 a.m. Beach Talk Radio

- ➤ The Bonita Fish Company, formerly Bonita Bill’s, will open to the public Monday, November 3rd under the Matanzas Pass Bridge with 300 seats, a large center bar & daily music and a fresh seafood menu. HM Restaurant Group, which also owns Doc Ford’s and Dixie Fish Company, is building a floating dock marina that will serve boat-in customers and accommodate boats up to 90 feet. Beach Talk Radio

- ➤ Friends of the Everglades will hold the Hands Across the Land protest outside the detention center on Tamiami Trail in eastern Collier County this Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m.—attendees should bring bug spray, water, and signs as the group seeks an environmental review of the facility. WGCU
- ➤ Tropical Storm Melissa is set to rapidly strengthen to a Category 4 hurricane early next week, and forecasters advise residents to prepare for severe weather. Forecast models show a range of potential paths—adding uncertainty to whether the storm may impact the lower Florida Peninsula or the Keys. The News-Press

- ➤ Fort Myers Beach does not allow motorized vehicles on the sand or dunes, including golf carts, scooters, Segways and motorcycles, except for emergency vehicles, public service vehicles and permitted vendors. Drivers caught breaking the rule will face a $500 fine. The News-Press
- ➤ The Lee County Board of County Commissioners renamed the Civic Center Complex to Mike Greenwell Regional Park to honor the late commissioner known for his support of 4-H and community events. Officials said they are asking for state funds to upgrade the aging facility — a move that continues Greenwell’s legacy in local youth programs — with unanimous support from the board. - ➤ On Thursday morning, the Saint Peter Claver Apartment Complex in Fort Myers held a groundbreaking ceremony to add 72 affordable housing units to its 136 apartments amid high demand from over 1,500 applicants.
