- ➤ Iman Zekri—a family law attorney at Henderson Franklin—has been re-elected as president of the Association of Family Law Professionals board for 2026. She will work to unite local legal experts and improve support for families navigating legal transitions. Florida Weekly
- ➤ Boys & Girls Clubs of Lee County will celebrate their 50th anniversary with a dinner event on Saturday, Nov. 8 at 6 p.m. at Park Meadows Community Club in Fort Myers. Guests can tour the renovated club that will become the organization’s flagship location and sponsorships start at $2,500. WINK News
- ➤ Margaritaville Resort’s Fins Up Beach Club pool will be free for veterans Tuesday, November 11th to honor those who have served—Margaritaville said the offer shows its commitment to supporting veterans. Beach Talk Radio
- ➤ Zaxby's of Lee County announced it is offering free kids' meals for any child dining in with a parent as SNAP benefits face possible delays due to the government shutdown—each location will also have a donation box for local food pantries to support those in need. ABC7
- ➤ Southwest Florida will host many Veterans Day events to honor military veterans this week. In Fort Myers, a boat parade is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. along the Caloosahatchee River — other cities will offer parades, runs and ceremonies to mark the holiday. - ➤ Families along Florida's Gulf Coast have turned to food pantries amid a 34-day government shutdown as many struggle to pay bills and buy food—Monday's mobile distribution served 170 meals for 250 people and local groups are boosting supplies for those receiving reduced SNAP benefits. ABC7
- ➤ Sun Broadcasting's 92.5 FOX News has launched the 11th annual 10,000 for the Troops campaign to collect 10,000 unsealed holiday cards from locals for deployed U.S. service members—cards can be dropped off at Mel's Diner locations until December 6. WINK News
- ➤ Community Cooperative’s Full Plates Project in Fort Myers provides holiday meal kits to families, seniors and individuals facing food insecurity this season. Janelle Olson, the Director of Development, said donations and volunteer efforts will help ensure recipients enjoy a complete Thanksgiving meal — the program relies on community support to meet this critical need. - ➤ HM Restaurant Group opened Bonita Fish Company on November 3 at the former Bonita Bill’s location on Fort Myers Beach. The restaurant offers a fresh menu of smoked meats, seafood and weekend brunch and will add a new floating dock and more outdoor seating in its next phase — while keeping the old Florida charm intact. - ➤ Board game designer Elizabeth Hargrave and Avalon Hill are set to launch SANIBEL, a tile placement game inspired by time spent on Sanibel's beaches at a pre-launch party on Dec. 10 at Sundial Beach Resort, featuring a guest panel and sponsorship from Bank of the Islands.
