- ➤ As colder air moves in next week, North Shore Alliance Church in north Fort Myers will help local neighbors by opening Blessings Closet to offer free clothing and food. Volunteers will run the closet on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon and Tuesdays from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.—they are asking for donations of men’s small and medium shorts to meet demand. WINK News
- ➤ The Collier County Sheriff's Office launches its 10th annual Sydney's Santa Ride toy drive on Nov. 11th to collect unwrapped toys for Naples Comprehensive Health pediatric patients—donations will be accepted at several Naples locations through Dec. 11th. ABC7

- ➤ SH Modern, a new art gallery in Fort Myers, held a private preview featuring works by Picasso, Matisse— and Dalí to support local children's arts programs; the gallery will open to the public Tuesday through Friday from noon to 5 p.m. by appointment. WINK News
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The School District of Lee County approved the Teachers Association contract Tuesday night, which includes up to 7% raises, an extra nine minutes of class time starting fiscal year 2026, and benefits such as paid parental and bereavement leave—measures aimed at reducing teacher vacancies to 20 and boosting recruitment targets with full staffing expected by August 2026. - ➤ Nat Geo Wild is airing a special called 'Python Invasion' today at 10 p.m.—the program follows the Conservancy of SWFL team as they track and remove invasive Burmese pythons that disrupt the Everglades ecosystem. The News-Press
- ➤ Early sea turtle nest counts show promising numbers on local beaches — Bonita Beach reported 187 nests this past summer up from 135 last season, while Fort Myers Beach had 113 nests compared to 109 previously. Officials are still analyzing complete data from the season that ended Oct. 31. The News-Press

- ➤ The Sanibel Boat Ramp partially reopened Saturday as work continues on the dock replacement project that began Sept. 8 — half the ramp is now open while construction crews remain on-site to meet safety standards. ABC7
- ➤ Fort Myers is ramping up safety for pedestrians and cyclists with a $27K state grant that gives police new tools to target speeding, distracted, and impaired driving. The funding will support enforcement and education at key locations on Palm Beach Boulevard, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Fowler Street, and US 41—helping reduce crashes and serious injuries.
