  • A Lehigh Acres woman is asking local support as she cares for more than 100 cats at her home, which now serves as a rescue and a neonatal kitten sanctuary — she also runs a trap, neuter, release program and plans to build a shelter to protect the cats.  WINK News
  • Several boat parades will light up local waterways this holiday season as the Fort Myers Beach Boat Parade returns on Dec 6 with Santa and Mrs. Claus leading a two-loop route along the shoreline—Cape Coral’s Holiday Boat-A-Long on Dec 20 offers stage shows, food trucks, and festive fun. Additional events include the 36th Annual Marine Industries Christmas Boat Parade in Naples on Dec 13 and the Island Christmas Island Style Boat Parade on Dec 20, while Bonita Springs will not host its parade this year.  The News-Press
  • The Pull the Cork wine event held on Nov. 15 at The Forest Country Club in Fort Myers raised over $500,000 in cash and in-kind donations for Lee BIA Builders Care, which provides free emergency home repairs to local families.   • Some stores are open for Thanksgiving shopping while major retailers like Costco, Macy's, Walmart and Publix remain closed today—Dollar Tree is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Walgreens only operates its 24-hour locations with CVS hours varying. WalletHub analysis shows that after Thanksgiving, JCPenney is expected to offer a 74% discount, followed by Belk, Macy's and Kohl's.  WINK News

  • Lee County Parks & Recreation has invited residents to submit photos of past fairs and Ag Expos for a Roots 'n' Rides exhibit. HEALTH NEWS

  • During a routine drive on I-75, Mia Lombardo stopped to help an injured turtle whose head moved on the roadside—she rushed into the slow lane despite being tired from work. The turtle received treatment at CROW where its puncture wound was cleaned and bandaged, and it is now swimming in shallow water with a positive outlook for full recovery.  WINK News

  • Brightwater Lagoon in North Fort Myers is transforming The Hub into a winter wonderland with a synthetic ice rink available daily from Nov. 28 to Dec. 1 — guests will skate in 30-minute sessions and enjoy food and drink specials.
