- ➤ Roberto Clemente Park reopened Friday, Dec. 5 with a new 21-foot playground slide plus a refreshed amphitheater and inclusive playground built with $2.3 million in funds. The News-Press
- ➤ On Friday, the Fort Myers Community Redevelopment Agency announced that Perkins and Will (a global design firm) will lead the Innovation Walk master plan at Centennial Park, installing bold sculptures and art to boost downtown vibrancy. The project is expected to finish by January. ABC7
- ➤ Golisano Children’s Hospital hosts the 9th annual Porsche & Friends Parade today as participants start at The Capital Grille at Bell Tower Shops and deliver presents to raise funds for a new pediatric surgery center with sheriff escort, while Fire & SWAT teams dressed as elves rappel from the roof. - ➤ Cape Coral Police launched the Sharewear program on Dec. 5 to help protect vulnerable community members by using waterproof bracelets that can be scanned with a smartphone to access emergency contacts and medical details — the program is grant funded and offers optional add-ons for specific needs. - ➤ Frontier Airlines announced that it will launch a new nonstop route from RSW to Indianapolis on March 27, 2026. The route will operate twice weekly with fares starting at $79 for spring break travel. The News-Press
- ➤ JetBlue is adding two new routes from RSW to Long Island MacArthur, with seasonal flights from Dec. 18 through April 28, 2026, and to Buffalo with thrice-weekly service starting Mar. 26, 2026+ RSW recorded a record-breaking October and is expanding its terminal as the airline boosts Florida service. - ➤ Frontier Airlines announced 10 new routes from Florida to cities including Raleigh-Durham, Indianapolis and Salt Lake City with introductory fares as low as $39; customers must buy tickets by 11:59 p.m. ET on Dec. 10 for travel from March 2026. The News-Press

- ➤ Gulfshore Ballet welcomes back three alumni dancers who take on lead roles in a revised Nutcracker with choreography tailored to their strengths. The performance starts today at 6:30 p.m. at Saint John the Evangelist Church in Naples. WGCU

- ➤ At Monday’s meeting, the school board did not discuss Fort Myers Beach’s proposal to take over the school or request $12 million for a new building.
