- ➤ Campers at the PAL winter camp in Fort Myers got a holiday visit from Santa Henry of Chicago Baked Pizzeria, who delivered gifts and served pizza + baked ziti. Officers and partners worked with the Florida Department of Transportation to fit the children with helmets and gear. ABC7
- ➤ Fort Myers residents can use the Safe Ride Home Program by Farah & Farah on New Year’s Eve to get $50 Uber credits for a ride from 6 p.m. Dec. 31 until 6 a.m. Jan. 1. AAA’s Tow & Go service will also help keep impaired drivers off the road statewide this holiday season. Cape Coral Breeze
- ➤ Residents in Fort Myers Beach filed a complaint about a neglected yard on Randy Lane that has been overgrown since Hurricane Ian, inviting critters like opossums, iguanas, and snakes — locals like Bob and Jeanne Shaw urge town action to clean it up. ABC7

- ➤ Fort Myers native dancer Alexis Campbell achieved her dream as a Rockette in New York City after years of auditions and hard work in 2023. She trains 6 hours daily (six days a week) and has performed on stage for three seasons. ABC7
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Sanibel has completed a major beach renourishment project by adding thousands of tons of sand between Blind Pass and Bowman's Beach Park to defend against future storm surges — the city will plant over 45,000 dune plants in January to secure the new shoreline. ABC7
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Fort Myers Beach earned a Class 5 rating from FEMA's National Flood Insurance Program Community Rating System in December, which will give residents a 25% reduction in flood insurance premiums on policies issued or renewed on or after April 1, 2026. FEMA noted that the rating will renew each year if the town maintains its flood mitigation efforts. WINK News
