- ➤ Cape Coral police responded to a call about a small alligator roaming a neighborhood off Porto Vista Parkway—officers used a towel and medical tape to restrain the reptile before placing it in a squad car and releasing it into a pond. The News-Press
- ➤ More than 400 people joined the seventh annual Best Buddies Friendship Walk Saturday morning at Estero Community Park to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The event raised funds—each person contributed at least $50—and set plans for a future jobs program to help those with disabilities find work. WINK News

- ➤ Historical records show that on February 20, 1865, Union forces including New York volunteers and black soldiers repelled a brief Confederate attack at Fort Myers amid heavy rain and cannon fire. Historians note the skirmish was a minor win for the Union and continue to study conflicting accounts of the event + its role in cutting off Confederate beef supplies from south Florida.
