- ➤ The National Hurricane Center in Miami is monitoring two weak low-pressure areas—one near the Bahamas that may bring heavy rain to parts of southern Florida and another over the north-central Gulf—and a tropical wave over the Atlantic showing disorganized showers. The tropical wave has a 50% chance of forming into a tropical depression by mid next week and, if it strengthens, will be named Jerry. The News-Press
